Silver Lake & Houses For Sale in Silver Lake
I’ve lived on the Eastside of LA for almost six years, and I feel as if I’ve barely scratched the surface, and it’s not for a lack of trying. There are just so many amazing nooks and crannies to discover, and Silver Lake Real Estate properties have plenty of it.
In fact, since launching Silverlakeblog I’ve made an effort to discover much of what Silver Lake has to offer. The variety of good eats, the unbeatable happy hours, the twice-weekly farmers market and the chic vintage shops have not disappointed.
The great thing about Silver Lake is the Houses for Sale in Silver Lake that are still a fraction on west side prices and arguably much cooler. That said, I’ve learned a few things about my Eastside neighborhoods since moving all the way from Marina Del Rey (that’s a city far far away on the the west side of Los Angeles).
If you’re new to LA and still don’t have the lay of the land, or if you’re thinking about buyingHouses for Sale in Silver Lake (which can take a while if you don’t have a good Realtor like me), it’s important to understand that Silver Lake is not close to the beach. On a decent day traffic-wise, it can easily take a half an hour to get there, and that’s on a very good day. Don’t be surprised if the ride is closer to an hour. Make sure you pack provisions, have good music, and your blue tooth connected. I usually use this time to follow up on phone calls… Like calling my Mom back.
That said, Silver Lake is convenient to a lot of other great spots. Nestled in between Los Feliz and Echo Park (both very vibrant, desirable Eastside neighborhoods), it’s only a few miles away from downtown Los Angeles, which is exploding with new contruction and revitalization right now, but that’s for another blog post.
Silver Lake is also very close to Hollywood, but far enough from it that you’re not living in a tourist trap or tourist stomping ground. Also other nearby neighborhoods are Atwater Village—”where hipsters move to raise their children,” as some say—and Burbank, a suburbanite’s West Coast dream with wide, clean streets and lots of big box store shopping – yahoo! So after you find the perfect Houses for Sale in Silver Lake and need to furnish them, you can head to Burbank for the Ikea or Target. Silver Lake is an ideal central LA location for anyone who wants the best of all worlds in Los Angeles.
