Hey Fitness Enthusiasts!

Silverlake

Let’s kick things off in Silver Lake, where fitness is a lifestyle. The Silver Lake Reservoir offers a picturesque jogging path – cardio with a view, anyone? If you’re into boutique fitness, fantastic studios like Pilates Punx and Hype Fitness offer cycling and HIIT. They have classes that’ll make you forget you’re working out because the beats are good. Silverlake gyms are some of the best in LA.

Other notable options to check out are –

  • Indigo Fitness – a small but mighty gym with personal training off Sunset Junction
  • The Body – Pilates on Hyperion!
  • Rodeo Athletic Club—The much-loved BodyBuilder’s Gym got a major and (very) fancy facelift. It now has 8,000+ square feet of gym space, plus saunas and cold plunges.
  • Para Performance Co. – Functional fitness-based gym with classes and personal training.
  • Y7 Studio – Yoga on Sunset!
  • Motivate Studios – Intimate strength training up by the reservoir off Glendale.

Echo Park

Let’s hop over to Echo Park, where fitness is as diverse as street art. Echo Park Lake is a fantastic jog or outdoor yoga spot. The best places indoors would be Crossfit Echo Park and Pharos Athletic Club. The latter is one of the most popular gyms on the east side. Silverlake gyms have some competition!

Los Feliz

Heading east to Los Feliz, you’ll find a mix of classic and quirky fitness options. Griffith Park is a fitness haven with hiking trails, and the iconic Griffith Observatory is a place to do some stair climbing with a view. Los Feliz doesn’t have the most options, so I may suggest warming up by running over to a gym in Silverlake. 🙂

  • AHF – Achieving Health and Fitness/AIDS Healthcare Foundation – Bare bones gym but immaculate queer vibes in a friendly semi-outdoor space. Pro-tip, get your RX filled at the pharmacy in the building and pay only $20/month for a gym membership.
  • WundaBar Pilates – Long-standing Pilates studio in Vermont. Parking? Yes. Next to BRU Coffee bar? Check!
  • The Fitness Prescription + Boxing—Rugged and dated, but it gets the job done! Expect a CrossFit-style HIIT workout for their fitness classes.
  • Yoga Vibe – Yoga in a converted home on Hillhurst. Dangerously close to Spitz
