The event provides free access to both world-class architecture and programming in the visual, performing and literary arts. ALL ACCESS is a community-driven showcase of some of DTLA’s most prestigious cultural institutions. ALL IN ONE DAY. ALL FOR FREE.
Grand Ave ALL ACCESS FREE Art Day DTLA
Programming for the 2016 edition includes:
- The Broad hosting pop-up art talks and family-friendly art activities led by Community Art Resources (CARS).
- Center Theatre Group partnering with Art2Go to offer family crafts and activities based on Amélie. To take place in front of The Music Center’s Mark Taper Forum.
- Colburn School presenting Grand Ave guests with a daylong schedule of interactive demonstrations and behind-the-scenes access to rehearsals starting at 11:30 a.m.
- Grand Park providing a behind-the-scenes look into the creation of its Downtown Día de los Muertos altars and art, developed in partnership with Self-Help Graphics & Art and Lore Productions.
- Los Angeles Central Library hosting a pop-up booth in Grand Park to provide outreach to visitors, issuing library cards, talking about library services, demos, and more.
- LA Opera presenting two free recitals featuring members of the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program at 11 a.m. and 2:15 p.m.
- LA Phil kicking off a new residency for director Yuval Sharon with Nimbus, an installation that transforms a transitional space – the escalators from the parking structure – into a performance site.
- Los Angeles Master Chorale showcasing singer/composer Moira Smiley as she leads an immersive a cappella experience inside The Music Center’s Walt Disney Concert Hall.
- MOCA Grand Avenue providing free admission to the galleries at this location all day.
- The Music Center creating a family stage on The Music Center Plaza.
- REDCAT screening selections from the 2016 International Children’s Film Festival at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
All events are free and open to the public, but availability is based on a first-come, first-serve basis. Demand is expected to be high so reserve your tickets/entry and arrive early.
