The new Hotel Lucile Silverlake is set to open in early 2025. Housed in a church built in 1931 at the corner of Griffith Boulevard and Lucile Avenue, the hotel will have 25 guest rooms, a swimming pool, a rooftop lounge, and a restaurant and bar set in the building’s main chapel, which has high ceilings and original stained-glass windows. Casetta Group has completely reimagined the space in the heart of Silver Lake, just around the corner from our Silverlake Farmer’s Market and with views of the city from its rooftop. Sip a martini from the Choir Loft or host an intimate dinner party in the Organ Room. Casetta Group’s Hotel Lucile is much more than a brand-new Silverlake hotel.

“That’s what we are excited about — the preservation aspect and bringing things back to life,” said Carolyn Schneider, President and and Partner of Casetta, which owns and operates a small but growing chain of boutique hotels. (The Eastsider)

The exterior historic features of the Romanesque-style building will remain the same. The brand-new Silverlake Hotel leaves no space uncovered in this old-world architectural masterpiece.

The church, initially built in 1931 as Bethany Presbyterian Church, later became the headquarters for the East-West Players, an Asian-American theater company, in the mid-1960s, where they also staged performances, according to L.A. Times reports. By 1980, the church’s predominantly Anglo congregation merged with a rapidly growing Korean congregation, forming the Bethany United Presbyterian Church. The last congregation to hold services there was Pilgrim Church.

Its rich history and requisite hospitality were a rare blend of exactly what I needed to escape the frenetic and addictive pulse of Los Angeles. The Surfrider in Malibu has my attention over the holidays, and I can’t wait to enjoy the Lucile here in Silverlake!
